Ordo Sonic+ Toothbrush: A Comprehensive Review by a dentist

When it comes to maintaining dental hygiene, choosing the right toothbrush can make all the difference. Whilst all reputable electric brushes will provide a clinically good clean, you need to find one that you enjoy the feeling of.

The Ordo Sonic+ Toothbrush is emerging as a popular choice for those seeking a blend of efficiency, affordability, and sustainability.

Here's everything you need to know about this new toothbrush.

In summary: The Ordo Sonic+ brush is a really good cost-effective option. It’s not as powerful as the Philips Sonicare and not as stylish and sleek as the SURI sustainable toothbrush but if you are looking for a good value brush at a reasonable price, the Ordo electric toothbrush is a great option.

Key Features of the Ordo Sonic+ Toothbrush

Sonic action and power

The Ordo Sonic+ is designed to cater to various dental needs. It has 40,000 sonic pulses per minute, ensuring a thorough clean every time.

The toothbrush is equipped with four brushing modes:

  • Clean

  • White

  • Massage

  • Sensitive

The white mode seems to be the most powerful of them all so my brush will be set on that and it will not change (I’m not a fan of several multiple modes on electric toothbrushes, I don’t see the point in them).

The brush doesn’t feel as powerful as my Philips Sonicare and slightly less powerful than the SURI toothbrush but it certainly delivers a good clean.

Brushing timer

The Ordo Sonic+ has a smart 2-minute timer, incorporating a QuadPacer that pulses every 30 seconds to remind you to move to different corners of your mouth. This feature helps you make sure you’re brushing your teeth for the correct amount of time and skipping a certain part of your mouth.

Battery life

In terms of convenience, the Ordo Sonic+ excels with a long-lasting Li-ion battery that runs for over four weeks on a single charge which is great.

It includes a shaver charger and USB converter, complemented by a smart LED indicator that notifies you when power is low and when the toothbrush is powering off to prevent battery damage.

The bathroom shaver charger is a bit clunky (like all electric toothbrush chargers) but the travel case sorts out that problem. If you have a large bathroom with a convenient place to store the brush, charging sand and lead then you will be okay but for most people in smaller spaces, I would recommend getting the travel case and charger.

Travel case

For those on the go, the Ordo toothbrush comes with a handy travel case featuring USB-C charging (which I will use at home instead of the shaver charger due to pure convenience).

The travel case allows you to use a USB-C charger so you don’t need to bother with any extra leads when you take your toothbrush with you anywhere.

It's important to note that while the case facilitates charging, it does not hold a charge itself—a common point of confusion among users in the reviews section. The case just allows you to plug the toothbrush in so you will still need a USB-C charger with you.

Money-back Guarantee

The Ordo Sonic+ toothbrush comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee making it a risk-free investment in your oral health.

They also provide a 2-year warranty to cover any breakages or issues.

Ordo’s Sustainability Efforts

Ordo isn't just focused on your teeth; they're committed to the planet, too.

  • The packaging of the Ordo Sonic+ Toothbrush is fully recyclable, reducing waste and supporting environmental sustainability.

  • Used Ordo toothbrush heads can be sent back to the company for recycling and they state that these recycled products will be available to buy soon.

  • Ordo also sell a nice reusable mouthwash bottle with refillable concentrated solutions

  • Their toothpastes are fully recyclable including in UK kerbside bins

Unlike SURI, there is no mention of repairing the toothbrushes if they ever break and just like every other electric toothbrush, they are manufactured in China and not locally.

Ordo Sonic Lite

If cost is a big factor, Ordo offers a Sonic Lite version at a cheaper price than their Sonic+

  • Less powerful (35,000 sonic pulses per minute)

  • 2 brushing modes

  • 5+ week battery life

  • Direct USB-C charging (I really wish the Sonic+ had this feature!)

  • Same brush heads as the Sonic+

  • Does not fit in the Sonic+ travel charger

It’s almost like the Sonic Lite is a better option with reduced features. In an ideal world, I would rather have only 2 brushing modes and direct USB-C charging, but I would not accept a reduction in sonic power so I will be sticking to the Sonic+ for now.

Overall Opinions

While the Ordo Sonic+ Toothbrush may feel lighter and slightly cheaper compared to some premium brands like Philips Sonicare or SURI, it offers excellent value for its price.

It’s perfect for anyone not looking to splurge but still wanting a comprehensive dental cleaning tool.

I would definitely get the bundle with the travel charger as it makes charging and travelling much easier, and the complete oral care kit is great if you want to give it as a gift.

Personally, I will continue to use my Philips Sonicare and SURI brushes, I like the combination of them the most but the Ordo is definitely a great option too.

How to Use the Ordo Toothbrush

Using the Ordo Sonic+ is straightforward:

  1. Attach your brush head.

  2. Apply a pea-sized amount of toothpaste and wet the brush slightly.

  3. Select your desired mode (White is my mode of choice)

  4. Start at your back teeth and turn your brush on

  5. Angle the toothbrush to your gum line and gently rock back and forth in small sweeping motions, cleaning 1 tooth at a time.

  6. Brush gently, letting the toothbrush do the work and glide across your teeth

  7. Once you have brushed all of your teeth, spit out any excess toothpaste and do not rinse your mouth or use mouthwash

  8. Rinse your brush and place it back on it’s holder

For optimal results, replace Ordo toothbrush heads every 3 months and consider recycling them through Ordo’s sustainability program.
